Harry Heft - Background   

 

Harry Heft is Professor of Psychology and held the Henry Chisholm Chair in the Natural Sciences. Presently, he teaches courses in environmental psychology, cultural psychology, and history and systems of psychology.

He is author of the book  Ecological Psychology in Context: James Gibson, Roger Barker, and the Legacy of William James' Radical Empiricism (Erlbaum, 2001). His research interests include the study of affordances, childrens' environments, environmental perception, way-finding, and place. He also publishes in the area of the history, theory, and the philosophy of psychology. He is Associate Editor of the journal Ecological Psychology and serves on the Editorial Boards of Environment & Behavior, and William James Studies, and is ad hoc reviewer for such journals as Journal for Environmental Psychology, Theory & Psychology, Journal for the Theory of Social Behavior, and Philosophical Psychology. From 2002-2009, he was the Book Review Editor for Journal for Environmental Psychology.
